The Queer Mobilization Fund (QMF) is excited to announce the release of our 2024 Annual Report! In the report, we provide an overview of accomplishments, financial updates and news about our most recent grantmaking cycle and powerbuilding work with grantee organizations.
2024 was a successful year for QMF as we held down the rapid growth that doubled our grantee cohort size and significantly increased our grantmaking budget in 2023. QMF has grown a lot since our re-launch as an annual capacity building grantmaking fund in 2020. In that year, QMF distributed $130,000 to 26 organizations across 4 states. In 2024, we more than tripled our grantmaking budget and awarded $340,000 to 46 cohort grantees and 4 rapid response grantees across 9 states!
In 2020, QMF began offering $5,000 Biscuits grants. In 2023, we began offering our $10,000 Gravy grants. In 2025, we will begin offering a $20,000 multi-year grant. QMF is one of the only sources for new, emergent and experimental QTBIPOC-led work across the US Southeast. These dollars and the capacity and power building resources that come with the funds are critical in building up our frontline leaders and movements for systemic social change, especially as the current administration slashes funding for social justice focused organizations and increases political attacks on trans people, immigrants, women and people of color. QMF seeks to provide support at multiple levels of an organization to support their ability to build and grow. Some organizations want to remain intentionally small or free of partnership with larger funders. Some are building toward growing to a level where they want and need to be more resourced. Either way, QMF incubates organizations of all sizes who are working toward building power for Queer & Trans BIPOC groups in the Southeast US.
In some ways more important than the financial resources QMF provides, we also support organizations in building power through relationships with other grantees and coaches rooted in frameworks for collective liberation. QMF is dedicated to building the power and presence of Queer & Trans BIPOC-led organizations in the US Southeast. We are excited to see how this work will grow in 2025 and in the years to come as we continue to resist the fascist right-wing agenda and build toward collective power and liberation for all.
