Board Members for Block and Build: Rapid Response Grant

Since 2020 Anita Cunningham has been working with the NC Disaster Response and Resilience Network, leading the effort to support local, regional and statewide disaster organizing in communities impacted by disasters and climate change.  Anita supports efforts across the intersection of energy, and environmental justice.  She is a passionate community organizer in Robeson County working with community and county leaders for environmental justice, opposing woody biomass as legacy pollution and the harm it is causing communities in Eastern North Carolina.

Anita served as a member of the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council until it was shuttered in January 2025.  Anita is passionate about justice in the South and advocates and supports BIPOC communities on the local and state level to create organized influence for statewide systems change.  She brings to this work a love of the planet and all living things and her desire to help always in all ways.  Her connections to see a better future for her family (her 2 children and 3 grandchildren) give her ample motivation to stand in solidarity with other like-minded partners across the South.

Shaun serves the Blueprint NC network and broader ecosystem through his role as the Strategic Partnership Manager. Shaun is a secondary education teacher and retired US Army Officer. Locally, he has organized with Fayetteville PACT under the umbrella of the North Carolina Black Leadership and Organizing Collective (NCBLOC) and as part of the North Carolina Statewide Police Accountability Network (NCSPAN). He is currently engaged in ongoing efforts to strengthen community-led safety in Fayetteville, NC through establishment of the Office of Community Safety (OCS) and Independent Oversight of local police.

G Wright, aka G. Wright Muir (she/her), is a South Florida–based LGBTQ+ advocate, writer, and attorney. As co-founder and executive director of BLINC—Black LGBTQ+ Liberation, Inc.—G leads community-centered work through arts and activism. Her experience includes legal advocacy, community organizing, and event production, including the Thou Art Woman series that celebrates and empowers Black and Brown LGBTQ+ women and allies.

G also serves on the board of directors of the Our Fund Foundation and the LGBTQ Freedom Fund. She brings strategic perspective and lived experience to her advisory roles, supporting efforts that defend and advance the rights of directly impacted individuals.

Jasmine Wright is a native of South Carolina, who began calling Charlotte home after receiving her degree in Communications from Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte’s premier HBCU. While attending JCSU, Jasmine rechartered the NAACP on campus and began her career as a community organizer under the leadership of Dr. Rev. William Barber II. Jasmine continued her organizing efforts with organizations across the state from Democracy NC to Blueprint and now with Advance Carolina in Charlotte and its surrounding areas. Jasmine serves as the Vice President for CCA (Community Civil Activist), a nonprofit organization she helped to build. Jasmine is a strong advocate for social justice and youth engagement. Jasmine is a role model and a voice for communities that are commonly not heard, and she uses her knowledge, experience and skills to help plant seeds among others, while sprouting leaders along the way.
