10 Year Impact Report

Over the past 10 years, SVA has been an anchor for grassroots organizations to receive the support they need to grow and thrive. We hold an ecosystem of over 40 groups that work on environment, gender and LGBTQ issues, racial, economic, and immigrant justice, and more. We believe that investing in a progressive infrastructure in the South helps to move the nation in a more just direction. 

From defeating HB2 (the anti-trans bathroom bill) in NC to stopping the Atlantic Coast Pipeline to repealing the ban on public sector collective bargaining in Virginia, SVA and its partners have been on the front lines of organizing for power and change. 

Since 2014 SVA has sponsored 60 groups, hosted 4 youth leadership programs, granted over $1.6 million to more than 600 groups across 13 southern states, and launched a community center in Durham, NC – the Peoples Solidarity Hub. Our key strategies are

(1) Build a Movement Ecosystem

(2) Build Power through Organizing

(3) Promote Alignment and Solidarity.
