Brighter Future Institute launches inaugural Organize NC Fellowship
Through the 5-month long fellowship, the fellows will have the chance to grow in their organizing skill-set in order to build grassroots power and advance racial, social, gender, and economic justice in their communities. The Brighter Future Institute fellowship combines training, coaching, and leadership development with on-the-ground organizing experience through their organizational placements. The fellows will be working across grassroots community, labor, and electoral organizing across the state.

On August 8th, the fellowship kicked off with a 3-week training intensive in Whittakers, North Carolina. Over these 3 weeks, the fellows are equipped with core organizing skills, tools, and competencies. Upon completing the intensive, fellows will begin organizing with their respective partner organizations. They will spend 4 days per week doing on-the-ground organizing and 1 day of training, learning, and coaching provided by Brighter Future Institute staff and outside coaches.
Organize NC will not only provide organizing training to newer organizers, but will provide leadership development to seasoned organizers providing mentorship to the fellows and opportunities for connection across organizations.
The Organize NC coalition comprises of Action NC, Advance Carolina, A Philip Randolph Educational Fund, North Carolina Asian Americans Together, Carolina Jews for Justice, Common Cause, Equality NC, USSW/Fight for 15, La Fuerza/El Pueblo, NC Latino Power, New Rural Project, the North Carolina Association of Educators, Poder NC, the Durham People’s Alliance, Southern Vision Alliance, and UE150,
